D-Link Launches Battery Operated Pocket Cloud Router For Easy ...

Philippines, August 23, 2012? D-LinkInternational Pte Ltd, one of the world?s biggest suppliers of networking products?today unveiled the newest member of its SharePortTM?cloud family,
the DIR-506L Pocket Cloud Router. Measuring only 10.29cm by 7.98cm in size, the portable travel friendly device allows owners to share their files as well as internet connection easily, while on
the go.

Mr Christopher Neo, Sales Director, D-Link International Pte Ltd commented, ?Tiny and versatile, the Pocket Cloud Router gives users the functionality of a router/ access point/ wireless repeater/ Wi-Fi Hotspot and network storage drive, all from a compact device which fits in your pocket. With the rechargeable battery and mini-USB power option, users will not even need a power outlet ? serving as the perfect companion for anyone on the road.?

Easy File Sharing

The SharePort? Mobile app for iOS and Android? devices allows you to access your videos, music, photos and documents from the hard drive or flash storage drive that is connected to the router?s built-in USB port. Music, video, and photos can be streamed or transferred to multiple users with the easy touch-based mobile app, or to users via the SharePort? Mobile Web File Access.

Router Mode

In Router mode, the Pocket Cloud Router works like a mini wireless router to share your broadband Internet connection wirelessly up to 150Mbps. It also allows travelers staying at hotels to create their own wireless network to share among roommates.

Access Point Mode

In Access Point Mode, the Pocket Cloud Router lets you create a private wireless network to connect wireless devices together, but does not facilitate routing. This mode also allows a connected wired device to communicate with other devices wirelessly.

Wi-Fi Hot Spot Mode

In Wi-Fi Hotspot Mode, the DIR-506L lets you share Internet connection coming from a wireless hotspot, either at a hotel, airport, or caf?. This configuration also provides a second layer of security when connecting to public hotspots by hiding connected devices from foreign devices on the public network, and keeping them in their own private network.

Repeater Mode

Repeater mode helps in extending an existing wireless network. It takes place where homes and offices that need the signal from the primary access point to be extendable.

Additionally, Repeater mode and Wi-Fi Hotspot mode lets you connect to any device via the Ethernet Port, enabling it to connect to your network wirelessly. Connect a game console or smart TV to a DIR-506L gives them the ability to access Internet wirelessly.

The Pocket Cloud Router offers a range of features in an affordable, compact device:

  • Multiple operating modes:

o???Router: Share your broadband Internet connection wirelessly

o???AP: Create a private wireless network

o???Wi-Fi Hot Spot: Share Internet access from a Wi-Fi Hotspot
