Chris Canty was cut by the New York Giants last week and subsequently took free agent visits with the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs. Canty tells one reporter that the Chiefs "rolled out the red carpet" for him, which is good news for those of you want Canty in the fold.
It sounds like the Kansas City Chiefs really do want Chris Canty on the team. Canty, who was visiting the Chiefs on parts of Monday and Tuesday, tells USA Today reporter Mike Garafolo that the Chiefs "rolled out the red carpet" for him.
Via USA Today:
Meanwhile, the Chiefs are working on their defensive line. They brought in former New York Giants tackle/end Chris Canty, who told USA TODAY Sports via text the team "rolled out the red carpet" for him. Canty did not sign a deal and is headed home to mull over his visits with the Chiefs and Tennessee Titans. No other visits are scheduled yet.
It doesn't necessarily mean anything but I like hearing that the Chiefs will "roll out the red carpet" for a free agent. The bad news of course is that Canty left without a deal. You don't want that to happen to players you want to sign. The situation is fluid and Canty is in no huge hurry to sign. It's an uncrowded market until free agency starts on March 12.

I don't know whether Canty will be signed but the Chiefs' pursuit of him is the strongest indication yet we'll see a new starting defensive end next season. Canty just so happens to play Glenn Dorsey's position, right defensive end. And you know Dorsey is scheduled to be a free agent. Tyson Jackson could be gone, too, with a large amount of money due to him.
