Getting better and more web traffic to you site or blog is a constant struggle. All of the search engines, especially Google, will punish your site if you don?t have enough traffic visiting your site regularly and you need the search engine rankings to make you site a success. One tried and true way to drive more web traffic to your site is by using article marketing.
Article marketing is done by writing relevant articles about your niche, product or service and then submitting them to top article directories. Have you ever done a search on a topic that you are interested in and then read the articles that show up in the search results? You have just benefited as a visitor from article marketing and the author has benefited as a site creator. By posting relevant content and then sending that content to the article directories you have made your content (and the very important backlinks to your site) available to people browsing the web. Backlinks can be the lifeblood of you site and the search engines love them!
Lately there has been a lot of concern about article marketing because of spam and copied content. Far too many lazy webmasters are copying (stealing) already posted content and blasting it to thousands of poorly run and poorly ranked article directories. This has the effect of diluting the impact of articles and harming the ranking benefits that good articles can have for both the poster and the reader. To make article marketing effective, you need to keep a few things in mind and follow a few basic rules.
The first rule is to make sure you write a decent article. No one is expecting Pulitzer-winning stuff, just make it easy to read, interesting and informative. Cover a few areas of your topic and make the reader want to visit your site to learn more or find products related to your niche. Your number one goal is to have the reader visit your site by clicking on the link in your article or resource box and hopefully purchasing something when they get there. If you are posting tired poorly written content the reader is going to skip by your article until they find one that captures their interest. The article directories aren?t going to rw-write your product, it is all up to you.
The second rule is to be smart where you are fine, most are low ranking, have few backlinks themselves and are not managed well by their webmasters. You may get an occasional backlink of value or a visitor but you will need to blast to thousands of these sites for a small benefit. There is nothing wrong with these automated programs ( I use Article Marketing Robot and love its ease of use) but for real results with article marketing you should submit to the top five article directories manually. These directories screen the articles, have excellent page rankings and will give your site solid and valuable backlinks. People who use these directories are more likely to click on links and go to the author?s site, leading to better search rankings and sales.
Here are five good sites to manually submit your articles to:
Ezine Articles
Articles Base
Go Articles
Article Alley
Associated Content
You will need to sign up for each site and make sure that you have posted your article only on your website when submitting to these directories. After the directories have accepted your article you can use an automated program to send the article out, but you will be rejected if the article directories find your article on hundreds of low ranking sites. There are plenty of other high ranking directories that you can manually submit your article to besides these five, just do a web search to find more.
Smartly done article marketing can be a great source of backlinks and visitors to you site or blog. Use article marketing to create more web traffic and you will reap the rewards.
