Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:
UNDATED (AP) ? The Big Ten and Pac-12 have scrapped their plan to schedule games against each other in all sports. Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany says the league recently learned from Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott that coordinating a non-conference football schedule for 24 teams across two leagues was too complicated to pull off. He noted the Pac-12's nine-game conference schedule and previous non-conference commitments.
MILWAUKEE (AP) ? Cody Ransom hit his first career grand slam with two outs in the eighth inning to lift the Milwaukee Brewers to a 10-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates last night. Ryan Braun hit two home runs as Milwaukee improved to 40-6 against Pittsburgh at Miller Park since 2007. Martin Maldonado finished with a career-high four hits, all singles, to hand Pittsburgh only its third loss in the last 13 games.
SILVIS, Ill. (AP) ? Troy Matteson shot a 3-under-par 68 for a one-stroke lead over Jeff Maggert and Brian Harman after two rounds of the John Deere Classic yesterday. Matteson bogeyed the par-4 18th after getting four birdies in the first 17 holes. Three-time defending champion Steve Stricker, of Madison, is three shots back at 10-under and within striking distance with 36 holes to play.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) ? Penn State plans to renovate the building where Jerry Sandusky sexually molested boys. University spokesman David La Torre said yesterday that Penn State plans to remodel the football shower and locker room area as a direct result of Sandusky's crimes. The former defensive coordinator was convicted of assaulting some of his victims in the team shower.
